Metals
The metals used for our jewelry are mainly bronze and silver.
Bronze is an alloy made of copper and tin and is naturally nickel-free.
Bronze, like silver, is a living material, over time it can become patinaed due to the normal oxidation process.
Humidity, water, skin pH can accelerate the oxidation of the metal alloy.
In particular, an acidic pH of the skin can determine, especially for rings, a light oxidation and it is possible that the bronze leaves, after a few hours in contact with the skin, a patina.
greenish. This reaction goes away by washing the affected area It is not harmful or toxic to the skin and does not constitute an allergic reaction.
Lo Studiolo jewels are made of sterling silver (925 silver), a metal alloy composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals.
In some cases, our silver jewelry features a superfine black patina. This
burnishing, which makes each piece unique and different, is a surface treatment of the metal
made through the use of acids that act on the surface of the metal.
The patina will tend to fade with time and use of the jewel, especially where it is subjected to rubbing, allowing the natural color of the silver to reappear and creating a fascinating play of light and shade. This natural process should not be considered a defect but an evolution that contributes to making each jewel of Lo Studiolo unique and personal.
